I definitely think that all of us have the potential to learn SAP HCM if we like the subject and are interested in it. Ofcourse, there will be risk of failure in anything and everything we do. That doesn't mean that you don't try to pursue your interest just because someone told you that you may not be able to do it.
My recommendation would be that you start with P K Agrawal books.
