If I have a row partition as sybase device as 1G when it created and located at /dev/raw/raw1.
Then set it as auto growth with 10%. with the time, this device will be kind of one partition composed by many small physical partition blocks from view of OS, like
1G + 0.1G + 0.1G + 0.1 G
and logically it is one device. Could this caused IO performance or fragment issue?
After further search over internet, somebody said:
Sybase recommends raw devices as against FS recommended by other rdbms
vendors. Also those systems support autoextend only for datafiles not
for raw devices.
Does it mean autoextend not support raw partition?
