Symptom
You are in Transaction MC84 (Create product group) and maintained all required entry fields for the creation of a new product group.If you now press <ENTER>, the system issues error message MG144 (The field & is defined as a required field;
Reason and Prerequisites
Note 592229 was implemented via Support Package or manually into your system,and your Customizing in the material master is not ideal.
Solution
In Transaction OMSR, check the settings for the required entry fields, and in Transaction OMS2 you must check the field reference for the material type.Only the fields used in Transaction MC84 may be defined as required entry fields. The material type for product groups of the planning must be set to "PROD". Note that the product groups are created in the background via
BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA. With that, the field selection sees the field references MAL1 and MAL2 instead of MM01 and MM02.If these settings must not be made in your system, you can create product groups exclusively via the material master (Transaction MM01).
Best way is create Production Group with material type as PROD in MM01 and use the same in MC84
