UI5 Is it outdated and bloated ?

Hi,

I have been following the buzz around UI5 and was planning to spend time learning and building applications.

I chanced upon few threads outside SDN discussing Open UI5 in mostly negative terms as being outdated and bloated.

As an ABAP developer with little HTML/CSS/Javascript experience, i can't make a technical evaluvation of the merits of the arguments.

Are these guys just being haters ? or is there any technical merit to their criticism.
